Thank you for loving us!
I have not much to report regarding DJ's health, except that he carries on with courage and perseverance. (I wonder if I experienced the pain that he does, and the ongoing nature of cancer that wants to inhabit his chest wall, if I wouldn't dissolve into a helpless lump of anxiety, anger, fear, sadness, despair, alcoholism, and/or gluttony - but he does not do that. I admire him very much.)
DJ increased the dose of the chemotherapy drug Stivarga with this fourth round, which he began March 26 and will end this Wednesday April 15 (happy birthday to Paul Paulin). His fatigue has certainly increased, and his pain is almost constant - worse on some days, better on other days. He continues to work in a light-duty status for the Paso Robles Police Department (and how grateful I am for his ability and opportunity to do so), more-or-less for 40 hours per week. He continues to be as engaged as possible in athletic activities, such as Brooke Bigelow's current softball season and his own upcoming volleyball season. Sometimes he feels extra tired, and his digestive system is certainly affected by the drugs, and his pain varies in type and strength. But he carries on.
In other family news, the kids and I have just enjoyed 2 weeks of spring break. Here are some photos, since "A picture's worth a thousand words".
